Why do we associate the FSC recycled paper?
Most people know that obtaining FSC certification supports a good cause but they also tend to associate it immediately recycled paper, which is not correct. So what's the difference?
Here is a short summary to help you learn about the various basic terms:
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international non-governmental organization that was created in 1993 by a combination of various environmental organizations from a around the world. This certification is to support good management of our forests to cut trees to the final products. Companies with a related field (such printing uses paper) can therefore apply for certification to ensure product traceability and support this good forest management. In promoting this cause, these companies can increase demand for best-managed forests.
So why are we talking about recycled paper with FSC?
When we speak of recycled paper is that during the manufacture of paper, paper fibers are already used to the new integrated pulp. So according to the integrated quantity, different percentages can be displayed.
And what is the difference between the percentage of post-consumer?
The percentage of post-consumer fiber is the amount included in the new dough that will eventually be recycled after the use of paper.
We can have the''virgin''FSC paper, paper FSC including fibers to be used for post-consumer or FSC paper including recycled paper fiber (from post-consumer).

That means''print in the grain''?
The paper fibers are comparable to a carpet of rice grains parallel online. If you do the test, you will see that is easier to fold the paper in one direction than another. So just like grains of rice, it is easier to fold the carpet along with the grain than trying to cut the rice grains in two because they break.
The two easiest ways to check the grain are:
1. Fold the sheet in one direction and another. You'll find that in a sense the paper in filth and the other not.
2. Tear the sheet in one direction, then another. The grain is always where the tear is nearly straight as it follows the grain. You will see that in the opposite direction of the grain, the tear is crooked because the grains are broken.
So before we print the final documents, it is important to evaluate the finish this project application. For example, if you want a brochure 3 fold 2 folds accordion, think of taxation according to the paper fibers ordered that one can bend in the''common sense''of the grain and get a nice document ! Otherwise, you will see cracks where the folds of your documents and this does not give a very nice finish. In exceptional cases, a varnish or lamination can still help strengthen the grains.
Here is a Wikipedia article which gives details of the paper.

vs. CMYK colors. Pantone Colors for Modern
Many wonder about the main differences between the CMYK printing process (process) and flattened with color (eg Pantone). In fact, the method used is the same with some exceptions.
Printing CMYK (process) uses four colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, hence the name CMYK or CMYK (CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW, BLACK). Using these colors in different percentages, it is possible to reproduce a wide range of hue. However, certain colors may not be reproduced correctly in CMYK. Between stage
Pantone colors (there are other ink type flat, but in general, Pantone is the standard in North America). Pantone colors (PMS or Pantone Matching System) inks are pre-mixed. A bit like painting, a charter is available, showing the different colors.
It is possible to integrate several one PMS color in a print job in process. It says in this case that the work is printed in 5, 6 or X colors.

FSC Certification - Have Heart
You may have noticed on several printed products (advertisements, envelopes, invoices, etc..) Medium and large companies that you know, a logo that looks like this:
For this logo on your documents, you must have it printed by a printer certified as FSC Modern and choosing an FSC paper.
The Forest Stewardship Council has developed its own chain of traceability to track FSC timber throughout its "life". Whether the certified forests where it is grown, the stages of production, processing, the finished product or possibly even to recycling, there are criteria to be met. For the paper is FSC certified, it must meet the criteria at all stages of the chains.
A wide variety of types of FSC papers are now available: offset, coated, matte, envelopes, etc..
If you want to print more environmentally friendly, do it on FSC paper listed a good way to do it. More and more companies are facing this gesture in their turn greener.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-governmental non-profit. It was created in 1993 by a group representing various organizations from 25 countries.

the forest Understanding the resolution of the image printing
All images you see on your screen now has 72 DPI (pixels per inch). This resolution is ideal for displaying an image on screen, but not for printing.
To print your documents on the press ( offset or digital ), the ideal resolution for photos is 300 DPI (pixels per inch) at final size. This resolution will give you the best possible quality of your images. By cons, if the resolution is 225 dpi or higher, the quality of the printed product will not be affected.
If, cons, you decide to print a picture with a resolution below 225-PPP, you lose quality (the picture becomes more blurred).
If you have very little resolution, we may even see the impression on the square pixel color.
To be sure your images have good resolution when printed, here's how to calculate it:
Screen ruling PPP = X 2 (P ixelles per inch)
Ex: 150 LPI (lines per inch) X 2 = 300 PPP
In The Modern 'Printer , we use a high resolution screen frequency to 250 LPI. For cons, the technology allows us to maximize image resolution, so print your photo at 300 DPI at its best quality.

digital printing, you have thought? The different frames
Digital printing, what is it? What are the advantages of this type of printing?
Digital printing is a great tool when you want to print small quantities or you have several different versions of the same project (different languages, custom addressing, numbering, etc.).. Digital printing does not require printing plates. It requires less paper waste for the adjustment (a few leaves are sufficient to adjust the colors). The print quality is excellent. A thin layer of toner is applied to the sheet of paper to be permanently fixed by heat. In Modern Printing, we use a technology without coal (coal tends to make printing and waxy too bright), which gives a very nearly made it to the offset press. Print 20 quality brochures for a meeting is now available at reasonable cost, within very short timeframes. Ask our representatives whether digital printing for your needs.

printing
The frame used by your printer is very important and dramatically changing the print quality. A few years ago, a grid of 175 PPA was reasonable in the technologies used. With the advent of CTP systems (Computer-to-plate), the precision level was increased, allowing the use of frames with a much higher screen ruling.
There are 2 main types of frame: the frame traditional and stochastic .
traditional Frame: It consists of points where the distance between their central point is equal. Only the size of the dot changes to play with different shades. When we speak of LPP (lines per inch) and LPI (lines per inch) is the number of rows of dots per inch. The higher the screen frequency (LPI), the higher the items are small but close together, the better the quality. So, a frame contains 250 lines 250LPP dots per inch. The current values are between 150 and 300 BVG BVG. This frame type is suitable for most jobs. In Modern Printing a special frame developed by FUJI 25o LPP is used.
stochastic : Unlike the traditional frame, the frame uses stochastic points of identical size (but very small) but the distance between each point will change to define the different shades. Similar technology is used with ink jet printers. This type of printing gives an excellent result with the photos, but tends to affect granular masses of color on the uniforms.

Choosing a page layout software
You must change your version of software up-to-page or lean for a rebranding. The debate was revived with each new version of the 2 giants of the mise-en-page: Quark and InDesign. Which to choose? Features increase, the first goal and lost official ... And if we go back to the database: software mise-en-page comprehensive and effective? Quark Xpress was long honored for its simplicity while being close to the needs of the world of pre-printing. InDesign for its part, preferred by the wing graphic showed the great skill of Adobe pursuing a improvement. Is there still a place for these two programs when their features are becoming more similar? The imposing structure from Adobe and interactivity between the various software related to printing on a choice of more and more sense, leaving behind Quark trainer.
InDesign
Positive:
- Treatment native other file types commonly used in prepress and design (Illustrator, Photoshop, PDF, etc.).
- Virtual Printing (PostScript, PDF) very easy.
- Integrated Preflight base.
- Managing fonts with simple and advanced OpenType feature.
- effective and consistent user interface between different Adobe application.
- Best Performance Transparency RIP for printing.
- is sold in more (Creative Suite), all including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat (Other suites are available with other Adobe applications).
- The price of the base sequence (including 4 software) is slightly above the price of Quark Xpress alone.
- net market trend towards a shift InDesign.
negative :
- Trend Adobe slow to follow the operating systems on Mac and management of problems on new software.
- Changes in Versions common (1 1 / 2 years approximately) with few changes warranting a new version.
Quark Xpress
Positive:
- Major improvements in the latest version (8).
- Increased tendency of QuarkXpress to be listening to users regarding their needs.
- Handling simple graphical elements (images, text boxes, etc.).
- Available in multiple languages.
Negative:
- Always the hook from Adobe that manages other types of files used in printing.
- Abandonment marked market in recent years. Fewer and fewer users are using QuarkXpress to create print jobs.

Connect to an FTP server
How can I transfer a large file to print a document? This question is frequently asked. There are several answers to this problem, the best being a server via FTP. Modern Printing has its server at ftp://ftp-drop.imprimeriemoderne.com . To get there, you can use a browser such FTP Filezilla [Free and powerful] that is available on Windows platforms, Macintosh and Unix. An extension is available for your Firefox browser : FireFTP. Simple and effective, you can send your files directly from your browser. Modern Printing also offers a tool for FTP connection via its website ( FTP server).
FTP servers are not limited by the file size (up to a certain extent) as opposed to emails. Their border is entirely dependent on the available space on the server. Their use is faster and more efficient. It is always best to compress your files before sending them (. ZIP,. SIT, etc.).. Another
simple method is to use a service transfer large files like that YouSendIt lets you send files with a weight less than 100 MB free.
